Self-Check Quiz

Fifteen questions on the core skills of Lessons 2–8: positions, unit vectors, velocity and acceleration, guided paths, equations of motion and central forces. Submit to see your score and a worked solution for every question.

Before you start

How it works

  • Work on your own with a calculator and scrap paper. Try it without notes first: that shows you what you really know.
  • Nothing is marked until you press Submit quiz. Until then you can move between questions and change any answer.
  • Each question is either right or wrong. When a question has several boxes, every box must be right.
  • After you submit, you see your score, a review of every question with a worked solution, and a results sheet you can print or save as a PDF.
  • Use \(g = 9.81\ \text{m/s}^2\) where gravity is needed. Angles in the formulas are in radians, and rates in rad/s.

Typing answers

How to type common answers
To enterType
\(3\pi/4\)3pi/4 or 3π/4
\(\sqrt{2}\)sqrt(2) or √2
\(2\sqrt{3}\)2sqrt(3)
\(135^\circ\)135° or 135 deg
\(-0.75\)-0.75

Each box shows how it read your entry (for example = 2.356 rad (135°)), so you can check it before you submit. Type only the number; the unit is shown next to the box.

The quiz

After the quiz

Use your results to decide what to do next. After you submit, the Results by lesson table under your score links straight to the lessons behind any questions you missed.
